Healthy Diet
The importance of a healthy diet combined with moderate exercise is a great ticket to health. A healthy diet consists of fresh fruits and vegetables, small frequent meals, deep breathing while you eat, and enjoying the foods you eat.
Studies show that chewing our food for 40 times before we swallow aids in digestion and breaks down the enzymes in our food. Avoiding acid producing food such as starchy foods, flour, sugar and large amounts of animal protein also helps keep our blood a little more on the alkaline side, especially when we are consuming green leafy vegetables. Avoiding preservatives and additives and food coloring, also results in healthier food choices.
Good habits to establish are choosing organic foods when possible, as well as eating fruits and vegetables that are in season. Being sure to avoid sodas and drink at least 6-8 glasses of purified water a day is also a good way to keep you hydrated and flush out toxins. Praying over your food before eating also establishes an attitude of gratitude and makes eating more enjoyable and places the system in a better framework for digestion.
If you experience digestive issues or problems with elimination it is a good idea to have these evaluated for allergies or other health conditions that may interfere with your digestive health. Our bodies can only be as healthy as the nutrition we are able to absorb.
