Inflammation

Inflammation is the body’s reaction to an allergen or foreign substance. The signs of inflammation include: pain, redness, swelling and heat. There are stages of inflammation that promote healing including the building up of blood, the increase in vitality  and the elimination of toxins. The regeneration of tissue and rebuilding of cells is a vital component of successful resolution of acute illness. In some cases inflammation becomes chronic, especially when there has been interference with the normal healing process and/ or overexposure to stress and reactions to allergens.

Inflammation left unchecked can contribute to chronic disease and organ damage. Removal of allergic reactions, assisting the body to eliminate toxins, as well as reducing free radical damage are all ways to assist the body to recover. Moving the lymph through dry brushing and manual drainage techniques also assists in removing inflammation and promotes healing. In addition supplementation with herbs such as bromelain, turmeric, and quercetin may decrease inflammation.
