Food Allergies

Food Allergies occur when the individual has a reaction to a certain food. In some cases a life threatening reaction called anaphylaxis may occur as a result of ingesting or just touching an allergic food.

The top eight foods causing allergic reactions include:

     
  • Milk
  • Eggs 
  • Peanuts
  • Chocolate
  • Nuts
  • Fish
  • Shellfish
  • Soy
  • Wheat

Gluten has also been associated with serious reactions in some people, especially those with celiac disease, a digestive disorder.

Approximately 2 million people in the United States have this condition.
