Pain relief

Pain relief is one of the main reasons people seek medical care.    Pain is subjective and is hard to categorize and describe. Oftentimes practitioners have devised a pain scale where pain is described on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the worst pain available.

Pain relief can be achieved with pills, often with side effects. Pain relief can also be achieved with massage therapy because of its relaxing effect on the body. Pain has been associated with stress. Under stress, the body tends to brace itself and tighten muscles, placing tension on nerves and tendons, which in turn causes pain in the areas innervated by the nerves.

Neck and shoulder issues become sources of pain for many people, especially those that think, sit, and work over computers for long hours on end. Also repetitive motion injuries can occur from using the same muscles over and over again, such as those with carpal tunnel syndrome.

Massage therapy can assist these people with improving circulation and reducing the tension in these muscles.
